Belfry of Cambrai, Gothic bell tower in Cambrai, France
The Belfry of Cambrai stands at 50 meters high with a classical dome and four corner sculptures representing important figures from local history.
The structure underwent multiple reconstructions between the 11th and 13th centuries before receiving official authorization from Emperor Venceslas in 1395.
The belfry housed the community bell and town watchmen's department, known as the gallus, which operated continuously until 1934.
Visitors can access guided tours of the belfry to learn about its architectural features and the historical role it played in community life.
The original Gothic spire was replaced in the 18th century with the current classical dome, marking a significant architectural transformation.
