Cap Taillat, Mediterranean cape in Draguignan, France.
Cap Taillat is a rocky headland extending into the Mediterranean at the southern end of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, connected to the mainland by a narrow sandy strip. The site features coastal vegetation and rocky shores shaped by wind and sea.
A major fire swept through the site in July 2017, destroying vegetation across a large area. This event led to increased conservation efforts to help the landscape recover naturally.
The location gained recognition after appearing in the 1968 film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang during the Truly Scrumptious song sequence.
A coastal path of roughly 3 kilometers connects the starting point at Plage de l'Escalet to the headland, with parking available near the trailhead. Wear suitable footwear and bring water, as the route crosses exposed terrain with little shade.
The headland forms part of a protected Natura 2000 conservation site hosting uncommon plant species and a population of Hermann tortoises in the wild. Visitors may encounter these small reptiles roaming freely across the landscape.
