Château de Bocaud

Château de Bocaud is a castle in Jacou that was built in the 17th century and expanded with elements from later periods. The building contains a reception room with elaborate plasterwork, wooden wall panels, and rooms decorated with neoclassical ornaments added in the 19th century.

Magistrate Pierre de Bocaud began construction of this castle in 1618, marking the start of its history. Several generations of owners made changes afterward that reshaped the castle over the following centuries.

The Bocaud name comes from the family who built this castle in the 17th century and held influence in the region. Visitors can see in the rooms how successive owners added their own decorative touches over time.

The estate contains a grotto-nymphaeum decorated with shells and stones from the 17th century, preserved in its original condition. This underground chamber shows an example of the elaborate garden ornamentation that was fashionable during that era.
