Bosquet de l'Encelade, Garden fountain grove in Versailles, France.
The central fountain features a lead sculpture of Enceladus emerging from rocky formations, surrounded by an octagonal lawn and eight decorative fountains.
Created between 1675 and 1678 by Andre Le Notre during Louis XIV's reign, the grove underwent modifications in 1706 when Jules Hardouin-Mansart removed original trellises.
The fountain represents the Greek myth of Enceladus, depicting the giant crushed under rocks after attempting to reach Mount Olympus.
The central fountain produces the tallest water jet among all Versailles fountains, reaching a height of 25.74 meters during water shows.
The basin contains decorative rockwork imitating Mount Etna's lava, with water streaming from the giant's mouth symbolizing his eternal suffering.
