Butte Bergeyre, Residential hill in 19th arrondissement, France

Butte Bergeyre is a residential hill in the 19th arrondissement featuring narrow cobblestone streets, small houses, and private gardens scattered across its slopes. Stairways and a winding road connect the different levels of this compact neighborhood.

The site was once mined for gypsum but transformed into a residential area in the early 1900s. A stadium on the hill hosted events during the 1924 Paris Olympics.

The neighborhood draws architects, designers, and artists who appreciate its quiet residential setting with small houses and gardens. This creative presence has shaped a close-knit community with its own distinct identity.

The hill has three main stairways and a winding road, offering different routes depending on which path you choose. The nearby Bolivar metro station on line 7b provides the most direct public transportation access.

The neighborhood maintains an active urban vineyard, one of the last remaining in Paris, preserving a rare piece of the city's agricultural past. From the top of the hill, views stretch toward Montmartre and the Sacré-Cœur basilica.
