Château de Tauzia, Historical monument in Gradignan, France.

Château de Tauzia is a neoclassical residence in Gradignan featuring a central rotunda and two lateral wings. The estate sits within a park planted with century-old trees that create a green and peaceful setting.

Architect Victor Louis designed this residence in 1778 for Jean-Joseph de Castéra, a law professor from Bordeaux. The building represents the neoclassical style favored by educated French elites of that era.

The dining room in the rotunda preserves original stucco work and wooden mosaic flooring from the 18th century. These ornamental details reflect the tastes and daily habits of the family who first inhabited this place.

The estate opens to visitors during Heritage Days and offers free guided tours of both the park and castle buildings. Wear comfortable shoes since the visit involves exploring both interior rooms and exterior grounds.

During World War II, the castle successively housed German and Italian military forces before being taken over by French Resistance fighters. This turbulent chapter in the building's past is shared with visitors during guided tours.
