Domaine de Beauregard

Domaine de Beauregard is a Troubadour-style château set within grounds that feature meadows and wooded areas bordering the Caen canal. The property offers space for walking through varied landscapes and contains animal sculptures along with other attractions spread across the site.

The château was completed in 1864 by architect Martial Pelfresne and later belonged to shipowner Jules Lecesne from Le Havre, who acquired it from the Colbert estate. Ownership changed hands before the municipality of Hérouville-Saint-Clair purchased and transformed it in 1977.

The estate has hosted the Festival Beauregard since 2009, drawing visitors from across the region for music performances and outdoor cultural activities. The festival has become a defining event that shapes the cultural life of the local community.

The grounds are easy to explore on foot with plenty of space to wander through different areas. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for varying ground conditions depending on the season.

The grounds contain Ornavik, a reconstruction of a Viking village that commemorates the Norse origins of Normandy. This unusual feature was created to bring the region's early history to life.
