Petit Bé, Military fort on tidal island in Saint-Malo, France
The stone fortress extends over a horseshoe-shaped structure with 19 gun embrasures facing the sea and two half-bastions protecting the entrance.
Engineer Siméon Garangeau supervised the construction of this defensive fort in 1689 as part of Vauban's strategy to protect Saint-Malo from naval attacks.
The fort houses an exhibition about tidal mechanisms and displays three original cannons from the 18th and 19th centuries on naval carts.
Access to the fort requires checking tide schedules, as visitors can only reach it by walking from Bon-Secours beach during low tide periods.
The garrison structure maintains its original defense configuration with 15 cannon positions that protected the Rance estuary alongside Fort Harbourg.
