Forêt de Roumare, forest in France

Forêt de Roumare is a state-managed forest of roughly 4000 hectares in a loop of the Seine River downstream from Rouen, composed mainly of beech and oak trees alongside areas of Scots pine. The site includes marked hiking trails through forest roads and an arboretum with tree species from around the world.

The forest developed through centuries of forestry management along the Seine River landscape. Montigny Castle at the forest's edge has connections to significant historical events, including a visit during the First World War.

A wildlife park spanning 26 hectares lets visitors watch wild boars, roe deer, red deer, and fallow deer moving through their natural habitats. You can see how these animals live and interact within the forest environment.

Access to the forest is from the parking area facing Montigny church, with marked trails of about 9 kilometers running through forest roads. Wear sturdy footwear and allow enough time to explore the different sections at a comfortable pace.

The area contains 25 hectares of century-old trees that reflect long-term forest management practices. Petit-Charme arboretum was developed to gather and display rare tree species from different regions.
