The Opéra de Marseille features a neo-classical exterior with ionic columns and four allegorical reliefs adorning its grand stone facade.
Built in 1787 and rebuilt in 1924 after a fire, the opera house stands as a fusion of 18th-century architecture and 1920s Art Deco design.
The venue maintains an orchestra of 88 musicians and a choir of 36 artists, presenting both traditional operas and contemporary performances throughout the year.
Located at 2 Rue Molière, the theater contains 1,823 seats across multiple levels and operates regular performances from September through June.
The opera house survived a major fire in 1919 that left only the peristyle and colonnade intact, leading to its complete interior reconstruction.
