Jardin pour la Paix, Contemporary garden at the foot of Citadel, Bitche, France
Jardin pour la Paix is a contemporary garden situated below the Citadel of Bitche with artist-designed sections. The route through the space passes glass elements, crystal details, wrought iron pieces, and ornamental grasses arranged in distinct zones.
The site was created in 2003 on land that formerly served military purposes. This transformation represents a shift from a place of conflict to one dedicated to nature and peaceful reflection.
The garden's name reflects a message of peace that visitors feel throughout the space. Artistic spaces and plantings create quiet spots where people naturally pause and reflect on the surroundings.
The site welcomes visitors from late April through early October with regular opening hours each day. Walking paths are clearly marked and pass through all sections, making navigation straightforward for guests of any mobility level.
Within the gardens you will find a welcome area with handmade ice cream and a tea room where visitors can sit. These small amenities allow people to spend longer time exploring the different sections at a leisurely pace.
