La Pierre Saint-Martin, Ski resort in Arette, France.
La Pierre Saint-Martin is a ski resort in the western Pyrenees with 29 kilometers of slopes spanning 75 hectares at elevations between 1527 and 2153 meters. The site operates 13 mechanical lifts and maintains 19 hectares equipped with artificial snow systems.
The resort opened on December 18, 1961, under the leadership of Arette's mayor at the time, with three initial ski lifts. Since then, the area has gradually expanded and modernized its infrastructure.
During summer, local shepherds bring their flocks and herds to graze on the mountainside, mixing traditional pastoral life with the hiking landscape.
The terrain caters to different skill levels and is best visited during the snow season. Navigation is straightforward thanks to marked slopes and clearly labeled lift systems throughout the area.
The Nordic area in Braca forest features dog sledding with about fifty huskies available for visitors. This activity offers a different experience beyond traditional ski activities.
