Tour Blanche, Office high-rise in Courbevoie, France
Tour Blanche is an office tower in Courbevoie that rises 100 meters with 27 floors and features a striking facade of white concrete punctuated by thick vertical columns. Inside, the building contains roughly 28,500 square meters of office space with eight elevators and recreational facilities including a gym and sauna.
Tour Blanche was completed in 1967 and marked the first private development in the La Défense business district. The building underwent several name changes throughout its history, reflecting shifts in ownership and corporate tenancy.
Sculptor Francesco Marino Di Teana contributed interior artworks to balance the building's exterior structure, following the principles of Le Monde vivant architectural group.
The building offers eight elevators for circulation and includes recreational amenities such as a gym and sauna spread throughout the structure. These facilities are distributed to serve the offices efficiently across the different levels.
Rather than relying on glass like typical office buildings of the era, the designers covered roughly 60 percent of the facade with thick white concrete columns. This bold departure from glass-dominant designs was an intentional design choice that set it apart from surrounding towers.
