Zoodyssée, Wildlife park in Villiers-en-Bois, France.
Zoodyssée is a wildlife park with four thematic zones representing different European habitats. More than 800 animals from over 90 species spread across about 30 hectares, with each zone featuring its own landscape and animal population.
The site began in 1973 as European Zoorama on land from a former American military camp. It later developed into a nature reserve before becoming Zoodyssée in 2004.
The park displays European animal species in habitats that reflect their natural behaviors and needs. Visitors observe how animals live together in groups, which helps understand how these species coexist in the wild.
The park sits within a state forest, so visitors can explore the natural surroundings during their visit. The different zones are accessed on foot, so comfortable shoes are essential and weather protection is wise.
The park actively supports conservation of the European mink, an endangered species native to the region. Around 170 animals are born here annually, showing how successful the breeding programs for threatened species operate.
