Saint-Honore d'Eylau Church, Catholic church in the 16th arrondissement, Paris
The Saint-Honoré d'Eylau Church stands as a protected religious building featuring Romanesque Revival architecture with robust masonry, rounded arches, and traditional stonework that harmonizes with the surrounding Parisian urban landscape.
Designed by architect Eugène Auguste Debressenne in the 19th century, this church was constructed during the period of medieval architectural revival when many religious buildings in Paris were rebuilt or restored following Romanesque principles.
The church serves as a central gathering place for the local Catholic community, hosting regular Sunday masses, weekday services at the Sainte-Thérèse chapel, and various parish events that strengthen neighborhood social cohesion throughout the year.
Summer schedules run from July 6 to August 31 with weekday masses held at the Sainte-Thérèse chapel and weekend celebrations at different times, while the church closes during holiday periods for maintenance work.
The building gained national attention when it hosted the funeral of renowned French couturier Christian Dior, and features Art Deco glass roof elements designed by Félix Gaudin with influences from Eugène Grasset and Raphaël Freida.
