Château Saint-Jeannet

Château Saint-Jeannet is a fortified structure situated on elevated terrain northwest of Nice, equipped with defensive walls, an observation tower, and architectural features typical of French medieval castles. The site retains Medieval structures that demonstrate the strategic importance of this location.

The fortress served as a strategic point from the 13th century onward, with earlier evidence suggesting Templar occupation between the 9th and 10th centuries. This long history shaped the current form of the structure.

The castle underwent extensive renovation work in 2009, transforming from Château de la Gaude to its current name while maintaining historical architectural elements.

Visitors can explore the grounds and enjoy the views from the elevated position where it was built. The site is accessible on foot, though it features uneven terrain and sloped pathways.

Archaeological excavations conducted during renovation work revealed the original fortress layout. These discoveries informed the placement of modern roads and defensive features around the site.
