The Notre-Dame-des-Douleurs chapel stands with a central nave and sanctuary, featuring vaulted ceilings and architectural elements from multiple construction periods.
Built in the last quarter of the 15th century, the chapel underwent significant modifications during the 16th and 17th centuries, including changes to its nave and sacristy.
The walls display a series of tempera paintings from 1490 by Piedmontese artist Giovanni Canavesio, depicting eight scenes from the Passion of Christ.
The chapel, located at coordinates 43.7788, 7.38135 in the Alpes-Maritimes department, received monument historique classification status on March 27, 2000.
The central apse features a Pietà showing Mary holding Christ, surrounded by saint figures, with artistic influences from Notre-Dame-des-Fontaines chapel.
