The mountain name stems from a local narrative about a noblewoman from Valdeblore who perished while attempting to cross into Italy during medieval times.
The mountain stands between Mercantour National Park and Maritime Alps Natural Park, representing centuries of shared Franco-Italian mountain heritage and traditions.
Hikers can reach the summit through the Frémamorte Pass, with trails accessible from both French and Italian sides of the Maritime Alps.
The mountain contains geological formations of gneiss rock that reveal the tectonic processes responsible for creating the current Alpine landscape.
