Inria Saclay - Île-de-France Research Centre, Research institute in Palaiseau, France
The Centre de recherche Inria Saclay - Île de France is a research institute in Palaiseau, part of the national French research organization Inria, focused on computer science and digital technology. It brings together around 40 research teams working on topics such as machine learning, cybersecurity, and quantum computing.
The center was founded in 2008 and quickly became part of the Paris-Saclay research cluster, one of the most active scientific areas in France. Over the years, it has grown into a leading presence in French computer science research.
Inria Saclay works closely with nearby universities and companies, which shapes the daily rhythm of the place. Workshops and joint projects regularly bring together researchers from many countries, making it a meeting point for people with very different backgrounds.
The site is primarily open to researchers, students, and professionals involved in projects or events. Anyone wishing to visit should contact the institute in advance, as access is generally not open to the general public.
Although the center is based in Palaiseau, it coordinates teams spread across more than ten locations in the region, making it more distributed than it appears from the outside. Some of its research has led to concrete startups, including one that uses artificial intelligence to predict how batteries age.
