The Time Machine, Immersive amusement ride at Futuroscope, France.
The Time Machine is a motion-based ride at Futuroscope that transports visitors through different historical periods using 3D projections. The vehicles move and tilt while showing scenes that last approximately six minutes.
The attraction opened in December 2014, replacing the previous augmented reality experience at the location. This brought a new form of entertainment technology that combined motion with digital imagery.
The collaboration between Ubisoft and Futuroscope brought the popular Rabbids characters from video games into a physical theme park experience. Visitors encounter these characters in action throughout the journey.
Children under 90 cm (3 feet) must ride with an adult, while those above 120 cm (4 feet) can ride alone. Wearing comfortable shoes helps as the motion effects are intense.
The ride vehicles take the form of public restrooms, adding humor to the experience. This unusual vehicle design makes the journey quite different from typical theme park rides.
