Saut des Cuves, Waterfall cascade in Vosges Mountains, France

The Saut des Cuves consists of multiple small waterfalls along the Vologne River, with the largest drop measuring three meters in height.

The granite bridge near the falls, Pont des Fées, underwent reconstruction in 1782 and stands near the Pierre Charlemagne, a stone marked with historical significance.

Local residents historically used this location as a strategic point for monitoring livestock movements and securing water supplies from the Vologne River.

Visitors can access the site via a free parking area along the D417 road, located between Gerardmer and Xonrupt-Longemer in northeastern France.

The water flow has carved deep natural basins into the granite rocks over centuries, creating distinctive bowl-shaped formations that gave the falls their name.

Elevation above the sea: 690 m
