Immeuble de Surrel

Immeuble de Surrel is a multi-section building on Rue du College composed of parts built across different periods. The stone facade displays wrought iron balconies that unite the various sections into one coherent structure.

The building emerged from two separate structures dating to the 1300s. A Gothic window was added in the 1400s, followed by extensive alterations during the 1700s.

The ground floor service wing contains a room from the 1700s with painted wooden panels showing hunting scenes. This decoration reflects the refined tastes of wealthy residents in Aurillac.

The structure sits on a central street in Aurillac's old quarter. Visitors should note this is a registered historical site viewable from the outside, best appreciated on foot through the neighborhood.

The entrance portal features diamond-point decoration and came from an earlier Carmelite chapel. It was incorporated into the building structure during the early 1600s.
