Born as Gerbert of Aurillac in 946, this figure served as Pope Sylvester II from 999 to 1003, becoming the first French Pope.

During his studies in Spain, Gerbert acquired knowledge of Arabic mathematics and astronomy, making him the most scientifically skilled pope in history.
