Abbatiale Saint-Géraud d'Aurillac

Abbatiale Saint-Géraud d'Aurillac is a medieval abbey church featuring a prominent bell tower built in the 19th century that dominates Aurillac's skyline. The building shows a mix of older stone foundations and later architectural additions that reflect changes made over several centuries.

The abbey was founded before 885 by Count Geraud and became an important Benedictine community that exercised considerable influence across the region. Its organizational structure and spiritual practices later served as a model when other major monastic centers were established.
