Aiguille de Chanrossa

Aiguille de Chanrossa is a sharp rocky summit in the Vanoise massif with steep slopes and distinctive stone formations. The peak offers clear views across the surrounding Alps and stands as a landmark in this mountain range.

The summit became known during early mountaineering explorations of the Vanoise massif as Alpine tourism developed. Its recognition grew as climbing activity increased in this region during the 1800s.

Local shepherds from Pralognan-la-Vanoise have maintained traditional grazing practices around the base of Aiguille de Chanrossa for generations.

Check weather conditions carefully before heading out, as conditions can change quickly in the mountains. Technical equipment and experience are needed to safely navigate the steep sections and exposed terrain.

The rock beneath the summit contains cavities carved out by water over long periods. These underground spaces quietly drain meltwater and shape the mountain's structure in ways visitors do not see.
