Glacier de Péclet, Alpine glacier in Les Belleville, France
Glacier de Péclet is an ice formation on the western slope of Aiguille de Péclet, made up of two separate sections divided by the Tête Ronde ridge. The ice extends down the mountainside and forms a significant part of the Vanoise massif landscape.
The northern section of this glacier supported summer skiing until 2001, when changing climate conditions made the activity no longer viable. This shift marked an end to decades of winter sport use in that area.
The glacier remains an essential feature of the Vanoise massif, drawing mountaineers and winter sports participants throughout the colder months.
Visiting requires specialized mountain gear such as harnesses and ice axes for safe movement. The funitel lift offers the main way to reach the upper areas and starting points.
The lower section of this ice mass is covered with rock debris that slows down melting. This natural protective layer helps extend the lifespan of the ice.
