Les Trois Vallées, Ski resort in Tarentaise Valley, France
Les Trois Vallées is a large ski resort in the Tarentaise region with connected slopes across three valleys. The terrain ranges from 1,100 to 3,230 meters (3,609 to 10,597 feet) in elevation and offers varied difficulty levels for skiers.
This ski resort began in 1971 as a connected system that allowed skiers to explore multiple valleys with one pass. The connection between the three valleys created one of the largest linked ski areas in the Alps.
Each village within this ski system retains its own character, from small mountain communities to well-known winter resorts. The way people live and the local architecture reflect different traditions of Alpine life.
The best way to explore the different areas is to start early in the day and use the lifts to move between valleys. During heavy snow or bad weather, some higher slopes may close, so arriving early helps you make the most of conditions.
Each night, specialized snow grooming machines prepare the slopes to maintain excellent conditions. This behind-the-scenes work ensures that runs are ready and well-maintained when you arrive each morning.
