Pic d'Ibantelli is a mountain summit in the French Pyrenees that rises 411 meters above sea level. From the top, you can see across the surrounding mountain ranges and the valleys of French Basque country spread out below.
This peak once served as a natural boundary between France and Spain. Border stones from the 19th century remain visible along the ridge.
Local shepherds continue the centuries-old tradition of grazing Pottok ponies on the mountain slopes, maintaining the Basque pastoral heritage.
The trail starts at Col de Lizarrieta and follows a well-marked path with steady climbs. Come prepared for changing weather and wear sturdy footwear.
The summit experiences frequent changes in wind direction and speed, ranging from 9 to 67 kilometers per hour, creating specific microclimatic conditions.
