Polytechnic Institute of Paris, French research university of engineering schools in Paris-Saclay
The Institut polytechnique de Paris is a collegiate university and experimental public establishment in Palaiseau. The campus covers a large area with several modern buildings, laboratories, and libraries where students work on projects or prepare for exams.
The establishment was founded in May 2019 but builds on the knowledge of six older schools, some dating back to the 18th century. Over time, several institutions joined together to form a hub for research and teaching in science and technology.
The name comes from the Greek word for broad knowledge and reflects the focus on science and technology. On campus, the International Center for French Language and Culture offers language courses and events where international students can become familiar with French traditions.
The campus sits on the Plateau de Saclay and is easily reached by public transport from Paris. Students often move between buildings by bicycle or on foot, and libraries stay open nearly around the clock, so you can find quiet study spaces even late in the evening.
On campus sits the HERACLES³ laboratory, which partners with CNRS and Thales to work on powerful lasers. The HEC Paris library stays open almost all night, giving students a place to focus when most other facilities have already closed.
