Tougnète, Mountain summit in Les 3 Vallées, France
Tougnète is a mountain peak in the French Alps reaching approximately 2437 meters in elevation, located within the Les Trois Vallées region. The summit sits between several ski areas and remains accessible to hikers and cyclists throughout much of the year.
For decades the peak was reachable only by ski lifts or on foot, but the Col de la Loze project starting in 2020 added a cycling route. This new infrastructure opened the summit to cyclists and linked surrounding villages through car-free paths at high elevation.
The mountain stands as a connector between the ski villages of Les Menuires and Meribel, representing the evolution of Alpine sports infrastructure.
The ride up this route demands significant fitness and solid cycling skills on steep terrain. Visitors should prepare for changing weather at this elevation and bring appropriate gear for mountain conditions.
The route features an exceptionally steep section called Mur de la Tougnète that averages over 16 percent gradient. This stretch has become famous among cyclists as one of the most testing parts of the course.
