Hôtel Hesselin, Private mansion on Île Saint-Louis, Paris, France
The Hôtel Hesselin features classical architectural elements with a symmetrical design overlooking both the Seine River and an interior courtyard.
French architect Louis Le Vau constructed this private residence between 1639 and 1642 for Louis Hesselin during the early stages of his career.
The mansion exemplifies the residential preferences of wealthy Parisians in the 17th century through its grand gallery and river-facing orientation.
The building retains protected status as a listed historical monument, ensuring the preservation of its architectural features for future study.
The original structure was demolished in 1935 by Helena Rubinstein, who incorporated elements from the historic building into a new construction.
