Barrage de Notre-Dame-de-Commiers

Barrage de Notre-Dame-de-Commiers is an earthwork dam that spans the Drac River with a length of 350 meters and height of 40.5 meters. The structure holds water that creates a large lake in the valley below.

Built in 1964 by Électricité de France, the dam was part of southeastern France's hydroelectric expansion during the postwar years. The project reflected the nation's push to develop renewable energy sources in alpine regions.
