Ban Rouge

Ban Rouge is a mountain summit at approximately 1983 meters elevation located where two French villages meet. The peak offers views toward Mont Blanc and sits adjacent to the large Espace Diamant ski network.

This summit has long served as a natural marker separating the two villages and helped shepherds navigate mountain routes. Its location made it an important reference point for people moving through these mountain passages.

Shepherds and farmers have used the pastures around this summit for centuries to graze livestock during warmer months. This seasonal practice remains visible in how the land is managed and used throughout the year.

The best time to visit is late spring through early autumn when snow cover is minimal. Sturdy hiking shoes and weather-resistant clothing are essential since mountain conditions can change quickly.

On clear days, an orientation table at the summit helps visitors identify the surrounding peaks by name. This same table marks where four separate family ski resorts in Val d'Arly meet at a single point.
