Chard du Beurre, Mountain summit in Hauteluce, Savoie, France
Chard du Beurre is a mountain peak in the French Alps reaching about 1,900 meters elevation. From the summit, views spread across surrounding Alpine peaks and toward Mont Blanc.
This summit has served as a landmark for shepherds and hikers crossing through the high Alpine valleys for many generations. The region developed human activity over centuries, with people adapting to the mountain environment.
The trails pass through pasture lands where visitors can see how shepherds still use the high meadows seasonally. This area has long been connected to Beaufort cheese production, a practice that shapes the local way of life.
A main hiking loop of about 6 kilometers starts from the Signal parking area in Les Saisies with roughly 300 meters of elevation gain. Sturdy footwear and weather awareness are important, as conditions can change quickly at higher elevations.
From this viewpoint, three major mountain ranges can be visible at once: the Mont Blanc massif, the Aravis range, and the Beaufortain peaks. This location offers a rare perspective showing multiple iconic Alpine regions from a single spot.
