Tbilisi National Park, National park in Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, Georgia.
Tbilisi National Park is a protected area in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region covering the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus Range. It features forests, rivers, and mountainous terrain at elevations ranging from 600 to 1700 meters.
The park was established in 1973 through the conversion of earlier protected lands and became Georgia's first national park. Its creation incorporated the existing Saguramo Nature Reserve into the new protected area.
The park holds several religious sites connected by ancient paths winding through diverse landscapes. Visitors walking to these sacred places experience how faith and nature intertwine in this region.
The park offers three designated cycling routes of varying difficulty levels, including the 10-kilometer Big Viewpoint Trail and the 38-kilometer Mamkoda Medium Loop. Visitors should prepare according to their chosen route and fitness level.
The protected area houses 675 plant species and 46 endemic mammals, including wolves, lynxes, and brown bears. Spotting these creatures requires patience, but their presence makes this land biologically significant.
