Ninotsminda Cathedral

Ninotsminda Cathedral stands with its eastern apse and partial western wall, featuring architectural elements characteristic of early medieval Georgian religious structures.

Founded in 501 AD, the cathedral underwent multiple modifications during the 10th, 11th centuries and subsequent restorations in 1671 and 1774.

The cathedral preserves 18th-century frescoes depicting the Mother of God, archangels, and apostles within its remaining altar section.

The cathedral complex includes a three-story brick belltower from the 16th century, which contained living quarters with fireplaces on each floor.

The fortified complex features corner towers with beehive machicolations and a crenellated curtain wall from the 16th-17th centuries.
