Kambadaga Falls

Kambadaga Falls is a waterfall system along the Kokoulo River in Mamou where the water cascades down in three successive tiers. The falls spread across 100 meters of rocky terrain.

The falls were shaped by the Kokoulo River's erosion over time, which influenced where settlements like Hakoundé Mitty established themselves near the natural water source. The waterfall's presence guided how local communities developed in the region.

Local children from nearby villages serve as guides to different viewpoints around the falls as part of their daily interaction with visitors. This practice connects travelers with the communities living in the surrounding area.

Reaching the falls requires traveling 17 kilometers on a dirt track from Bourouwal Tappé to Hakoundé Mitty, followed by a 40-minute uphill walk. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water, as the terrain is rough and demanding.

A metal cable footbridge crosses the Kokoulo River near the falls, offering access to both banks of the waterfall system. This crossing allows visitors to explore viewpoints from both sides, which is an uncommon feature for waterfall sites in this region.
