Javakheti National Park

Javakheti National Park is a protected area in southern Georgia featuring mountains, lakes, and grasslands situated at about 2,200 meters (7,200 feet) elevation. The park contains five major lakes, open moorlands, and extensive meadows that together support different types of habitats.

The park was established in 2011 by the Georgian government with support from the international conservation organization WWF and German financial assistance. This creation followed growing recognition of the region's ecological importance.

The park region maintains traditional Georgian practices with local communities actively participating in the management and development of natural resources.

Visitors can reach information centers within the park that provide orientation help and access to marked hiking trails. The warmer months offer the best visiting conditions when pathways are easily accessible and nature is most active.

This protected area connects across borders with Armenia's Lake Arpi National Park to form a large transboundary conservation zone for migratory birds. This cross-border cooperation allows thousands of bird species to travel safely across their migration routes.
