Admiralty Glacier, Glacier in Northeast Greenland National Park, Greenland
The Admiralty Glacier extends from the Greenland Ice Sheet, flowing east for 20 kilometers before curving northeast near Trefork Lake.
The British North Greenland expedition mapped this glacier between 1952 and 1954, naming it after the British Admiralty for Royal Navy support.
Geologists from British expeditions documented the glacier's surrounding cliffs, examining rock formations and recording the presence of blue ice lakes.
Access to Admiralty Glacier requires special permits and guided expeditions due to its location within Northeast Greenland National Park's protected boundaries.
The glacier terminates at Britannia Lake in Støvdal valley, where researchers observe the movement patterns and ice cap dynamics of northeastern Greenland.
