Joensuu Church

Joensuu Church is a Lutheran church building combining Art Nouveau, Renaissance Revival, and Gothic Revival architecture. It features two towers of different heights on opposite corners, an organ with multiple stops, and interior space designed to hold many worshippers.

Finnish architect Josef Stenbäck designed this building around 1900, drawing inspiration from different European architectural traditions. It was built to serve the growing Lutheran community in the city.

The altar features a painting of the Crucifixion by Ilmari Launis created in the early 1900s, a central focal point for worshippers. The interior layout guides visitors through spaces designed for prayer and reflection, showing how the building serves the local faith community.
