Malmi Shooting Range, Former shooting range in Kivikko, Finland
Malmi Shooting Range was a large facility in northeastern Helsinki with multiple firing positions and training areas spread across the grounds. The site offered space for different shooting disciplines and was equipped with extensive infrastructure for its operations.
The Finnish Army built this facility in 1937 and used it as a center for shooting training and competitions. It played a key role during the 1952 Helsinki Olympics and operated until 1993.
The range served as a primary location for Finnish military training and civilian shooting sports from 1937 until 1993.
The location is no longer active as a shooting range and the grounds are not open to the public today. Visitors should be aware that it is a former military complex with restricted access.
During World War II the facility also served as an execution site where some of Finland's final death sentences were carried out. This darkest chapter is often overlooked but remains part of the location's historical record.
