Zagreb Botanical Garden, Botanical garden in Zagreb, Croatia
The Zagreb Botanical Garden extends across 5 hectares in the central district, featuring extensive collections of plants and multiple water features with aquatic species.
Professor Antun Heinz established the garden in 1889 as part of the University of Zagreb, opening its gates to the public two years later in 1891.
The garden's ponds became the subject matter for several paintings by Croatian artist Slava Raškaj, who created her works near these water features.
The garden welcomes visitors from Monday to Sunday between 9 AM and 4 PM, with entrance fees of 2 EUR for adults and 1 EUR for students.
The collection includes more than 10,000 plant species, with 1,800 exotic varieties from different regions of the world maintained by university staff.
