Paromlin Zagreb

Paromlin Zagreb is a former steam mill in Martinovka featuring substantial brick structures, large window rows, and metal frameworks that remain from its industrial past. The complex now serves as an event venue while keeping its original industrial layout intact, complete with a distinctive chimney structure.

The mill was founded in 1863 and operated using steam-powered technology to process grain harvested from nearby farmland. For decades it remained an important part of Zagreb's industrial zone near the main railway station.

The brick walls and large windows speak to the manufacturing work that once happened inside these buildings, giving visitors a sense of how industrial production shaped this part of Zagreb. Today people gather here for events and performances, using the raw industrial architecture as a backdrop for cultural activities.

The location sits just south of Zagreb's central train station and is easy to reach by public transport. Allow time to explore the interior spaces and the grounds around the chimney area thoroughly.

Wind turbines have been installed on the historic smokestack to generate renewable energy, creating an interesting combination of past industrial heritage and modern sustainability efforts. This represents one of the few instances where an original industrial structure actively produces clean power.
