Hum, Buzet

Located at 349 meters elevation, Hum contains two parallel streets enclosed by defensive walls and integrated residential structures along its perimeter.

The settlement received its first written documentation in 1102 under the name Cholm when it fell under the control of the Patriarch of Aquileia.

The parish church houses the Hum Glagolitic wall inscriptions from the 12th century, representing early examples of Croatian literary tradition.

A bell and watch tower from 1552 stands within the settlement, serving both as a defensive structure and a central architectural element.
