Šušnjevica, Mountain settlement in Istria County, Croatia.
Located in the Arsa River valley at 48 meters elevation, Šušnjevica extends across 11 square kilometers of rural terrain in eastern Istria.
The settlement transformed from an Austro-Hungarian census district to the capital of Valdarsa municipality under Italian rule between 1922 and 1947.
The community preserves traces of Istrorumeni heritage, marked by the establishment of the only Istrorumeno language school that operated until 1947.
The settlement maintains connections to surrounding woodlands and provides access to walking paths leading through the former Lake d'Arsa region.
Following World War II, the transfer to Yugoslavia in 1947 led to significant population changes, reducing the settlement from 3,000 to 75 residents.
