Rundfunksender Učka

Rundfunksender Učka is a 60-meter-tall broadcasting transmitter located on Vojak peak at 1370 meters elevation between Opatija and Lovran. The facility uses its exposed mountain position to broadcast radio and television signals across the Kvarner region and surrounding coastal areas.

The transmitter was built during the 1990s as part of Croatia's developing telecommunications network. Its construction improved media distribution across the mountainous region during the reconstruction of national broadcasting infrastructure.

This transmitter facility maintains communication links for multiple Croatian media channels, supporting radio and television broadcasts throughout the coastal area.

The transmitter sits along a mountain path between two popular coastal towns and is accessible via hiking routes. Visitors should note that the high elevation and exposed ridge position mean weather can change quickly and conditions may be challenging.

From this vantage point, visitors on clear days can see views that extend across the Adriatic toward neighboring countries. The installation also serves as an informal landmark for hikers crossing the Kvarner region.
