Downtown Lutheran Church

The Downtown Lutheran Church is a religious building in central Miskolc featuring a prominent 60-meter tower that stands in Luther Courtyard between Nagy-Hunyad and Kis-Hunyad streets. The interior contains carefully designed elements that reflect regional architectural traditions.

The building was founded in the late 17th century by the Cipszer and Slovak families. After a fire destroyed the earlier structure in 1817, the current church was completed in 1820.

The church displays a painting by artist Bertalan Székely at the altar. The courtyard features a statue of Gustav Csengey, a Lutheran theologian and poet, reflecting the role of faith in local life.
