Construction of the church began in 1680 after obtaining permission from Sultan Mohammed IV, following the destruction of a wooden church in the great fire of 1678.
The church maintains regular worship schedules with morning devotions on weekdays and three different services on Sundays, including specific programs for families and youth.
The building underwent extensive renovations in 2019-2020, receiving new copper sheet metal work and modern ceramic roof tiles to ensure structural preservation.
Four bells serve the church, including the Rákóczi bell from 1856, known as the 'Loud Guard,' which rings at specific times throughout the week.
