Avas TV Tower, Television tower on Avas hill, Miskolc, Hungary.
The concrete television tower stands 72 meters tall on Avas hill, featuring an observation deck that overlooks the entire city of Miskolc.
Built in 1966 by architects Miklós Hofer and György Vörös, this structure replaced the original Rákóczi Tower that burned down during the 1956 Revolution.
The tower represents modern engineering in Miskolc, sharing the hilltop with the Gothic Protestant Church that dates from medieval times.
Visitors can reach the observation deck through an internal staircase, where they obtain views extending across the surrounding mountains and valleys.
The tower survived a period when Soviet forces targeted strategic points in the city, making it a testament to Hungarian resilience.
