Szurdok

Szurdok is a natural gorge carved through limestone cliffs in Pilisszentkereszt, featuring narrow walking paths and multiple wooden bridges that cross the Dera Creek. The passage winds through the landscape with rock walls on both sides and forest cover overhead.

The gorge was carved through limestone by geological forces during the Triassic period millions of years ago. These ancient movements shaped the natural boundary between the Pilis and Viserád mountain ranges.

The gorge serves as a key waypoint along a major Hungarian hiking network that connects the surrounding hills and valleys. Locals and visitors regularly use the wooden walkways as part of their engagement with the natural landscape.

Access begins from a designated parking area near Pilisszentkereszt with clear trail markers throughout the passage. The walking routes are manageable for visitors with basic fitness levels and the terrain requires sturdy footwear.
